Playdom

December 28, 2011 |

Playdom is one of the leading social network game developers as it has already bagged the position of “the largest social game developer on MySpace”. Emerged as a group of 3 young folks of which 2 are Berkeley graduates namely Chris Wang, Ling Xiao and one Swarthmore College graduate whose name is Dan Yue, Playdom soon became a company with $300 million turn over most of which came from selling virtual goods, items and cashes. Unlike Zynga which only develops social games for Facebook, Playdom serves MySpace and other social networking sites apart from its major partner Facebook.

Currently this game developer company is proud of its more than 15 games being played across world. As the main aim of the company goes “to entertain everyone, everywhere…” it creates games to fulfill this ultimate aim. Games developed by Playdom are really diverse in nature as well as fun to play. For example, the Wild Ones is a charming carnage game whereas Gardens of Time is about finding out the hidden objects and Bola is all about social football management.

This company had successfully added another feather in its cap as in May 2010 it came in the list of 2010 Hottest Silicon Valley Companies. Playdom was acquired by the Walt Disney Company on July 27, 2010 and became a subsidiary body of the Disney Interactive Media Group. The deal was signed for $763 million. Now it is the 3rd largest social network game developer in the whole world and promises to offer more enjoyment to its worldwide users in the near future.
